Meet the Team
Joanna Byrne
Owner
Joanna started her career in agriculture and was horse trainer for fifteen years. She grew up working on diesel pickups, tractors and old lawn mowers. She pursued becoming a technician because of her 1997 F250 7.3l Powerstroke. She started in the auto body repair industry at Hub City Body Works, then shifted her focus to diesels and her love of performance. She moved away from performance for a number of years while she served as the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Diesel Service Technology at South Plains College before stepping away to focus again on performance and open Byrne Diesel Performance in 2024. That lead to opening Torched Motorsport Supply in 2025.

Joanna holds an AAS in Diesel Service Technology from South Plains College, BA in English from Texas Tech University, and a MFA in Writing from Lindenwood University. She is an ASE Medium/Heavy Duty Technician, an AED Certified Heavy Equipment Technician, and a John Deere Certified Dealer Instructor.

While her parallel life in the equine and agriculture industries rarely surprise people, her interest, and extensive education in writing and literature often do. She has had both short fiction and short non-fiction work published in Harbinger Journal of Literature and Art at Texas Tech University in 2019, and a short fiction piece won the Dark Festival Best Graduate Story in 2020 at Lindenwood University, and also served as an Editorial Assistant for the 10th Edition of The Lindenwood Review.

Hunter Young
Store Manager
Hunter grew up in the auto body repair industry as well as the car show world. He started working in the industry in high school, working at Hub City Body Works, and worked in a variety of positions there over the years, and remained in the parts department even after its sale. Hub City Body Works, once an icon of locally owned, small business in Lubbock, Texas, is now a name forgotten by most, though the original buildings are still in use on East 50th St. Hunter, however, has kept his passion for classics, hot rods and show trucks, built by the show car collection his grandfather, and former Hub City owner, Bob Young owned, and Hunter's own show trucks. His first, a 1986 Chevy Short Wide was his first debut in the show scene, followed by his 1971 Chevy Short Wide, which was a Good Guys top five truck.

Hunter brings seventeen years experience in automotive parts to the table, as well as five years in construction as a journeyman.

His other interest include horticulture and ridiculously spicy peppers.
